The Stroke Club for Mid Essex

Aims and Activities

The Stroke Club is a 'self-help' group, a local voluntary organisation which was established in 1982 to address some of the problems that face stroke survivors and their families. The Stroke Club runs from accessible locations across Mid Essex. The club runs a Saturday Drop-In Centre offering, advice, information, assistance with form-filling and benefits, practical problem-solving including mobility and rehabilitation, and computer/laptop training. Refreshments and a cooked lunch are available at cost. Pub meals at an accessible local are one evening a month, and other social activities are arranged on request. They also have two back-lift minibuses which offer transport to and from the club to members without their own means of travel. And also run a 24/7 Telephone Helpline: 01621 891007 Membership is free to anyone who has had a stroke, whether slight or severe, and their partners, family, carers or friends. Please telephone or email for initial appointment and more information.
